আমাদের পথচলা
Our Journey
From a framed idol to a thriving 300+ member community — the story of Cincinnati Cultural Initiative and our “Together We Can” spirit.
The CCI Timeline
Every year, a new chapter in our collective story
The Beginning
A small group of Bengali families in Cincinnati came together with a shared dream — celebrating Ma Durga far from home. The first Durga Puja was held with a framed idol, intimate gatherings, and homemade prasad.
Full Pratima
Within just two years, the community grew enough to commission a full clay pratima (idol) of Ma Durga — a proud milestone marking CCI as a real force in the Cincinnati cultural landscape.
Sparsha Begins
CCI launched Sparsha — a Christmas-time cultural outreach program where children perform at local senior living communities, bridging cultures and spreading joy.
First Brochure
The first Durga Pujo magazine/brochure was published, featuring community stories, advertisements from local businesses, and a growing sense of identity.
National Recognition
CCI members represented Cincinnati at Banga Sammelan Atlantic City and Regional Bengali Conference Nashville. Also hosted differently-abled young adults from Bengaluru for a special performance.
Grand Cultural Year
Featured performances by acclaimed artists Sona Mohapatra and Rupankar Bagchi. The community matured into a cultural powerhouse in the tri-state area.
12th Durga Pujo
The 12th annual Cincinnati Durga Pujo featured the band Mohenjo Daro with their unique "East meets West" fusion. 300+ attendees celebrated together at Lakota West Freshman School.
Post-Pandemic Revival
After navigating the pandemic, CCI came back stronger with renewed energy. Barsho Boron & Beyond combined Bengali New Year with intimate ghoroa adda gatherings. Featured artist Somlata performed at Durga Pujo.
17th Durga Pujo
The 17th annual celebration at Mason Middle School featured Lagnajita Chakraborty. The "Parar Pujo" (neighborhood puja) theme brought the community closer than ever.
Growing Stronger
18th Durga Pujo at Mason High School, plus expanded events — Saraswati Pujo, RRBB (Bengali New Year + Holi), annual picnic. The member reward program was launched.
Looking Ahead
The 19th annual Durga Puja planned for Oct 16-18. A new website, expanded membership benefits with 20% cashback rewards, and dreams of a dedicated cultural space in Cincinnati.
